Item Description

Highly unusual, large pyrite from the famous and ancient iron mines at Rio Marina. This is a striking tabular floater nodule of densely intergrown, sharp, highly lustrous, brassy pyritohedrons! The crystals reach 4.0 cm on this striking piece. Complete all-around and essentially pristine, with only trivial contacting on one end. This is a fascinating and RARE style of pyrite from this renowned locale, famous for outstanding pyrite specimens. This one certainly qualifies. The edges have remarkable intergrowth patterns. It displays well from either direction and both sides. Choice material from the Paul Zerfass Collection # 967.
