Item Description

One of the most exceptional things I have seen from the United States is Sunstone from Oregon. This material comes in a myriad of colors ranging from yellow, orange, red, green and even blue in rare cases. Aside from the the extremely rare blue variety, the most hard to find color of this material is red, but natural bicolor gems of this material are exceptionally rare as well. This stone is a superb quality, rare, virtually eye clean gem with a classic "Oval Brilliant" cut. This gem has a beautiful reddish-orange color on one side, and a very rarely seen greenish-blue zone on the other side, making this a unique, attractive, and highly sought after NATURAL bicolor Sunstone from Oregon. It is not very common to find Oregon Sunstone with any strong color, as over 90% of this material displays a light yellow or "champagne" hue, so to find any hint of color is a big deal, let alone two colors together like this. It should be noted that colored gem quality Feldspar is rare enough in the world, but gem material this is almost never seen in nature. Many of the stones from this area have what is called a "shiller" which is a shimmer in the stone created by micro inclusions of metallic Copper. This stone is actually so clean that you can't see any "shiller", and it really looks beautiful in person. These gems are becoming very difficult to find in any size or quantity for reasonable prices on the market, so don't miss out on this one. A great US stone for collectors. Retail value on this gem is $315.00.
