Item Description

A wonderful U.S. gemstone from the historic locality at Mt. Antero in central Colorado. This locality is one of the most well known pegmatites in the United States, and certainly has gained even more fame from its exposure in magazines, books and even on television on the Prospectors programs. This stone came from a crystal collected by Brian Kosnar in 1999. For an Antero gem, it's good quality with nearly eye clean clarity (very very sligthly included), and a soft blue color. It has a typical "Step Pear" cut and the fact that it's nearly 1 carat is significant in my mind. One does not often have the opportunity to purchase U.S. gemstones, and to have a piece from a locality that exists 13,000 feet above sea level is even more impressive!
