Item Description

Johachidolite is named after its discovery locality, in the Johachido district, Kenkyohokudo, North Korea. Recently some fine gem material has been coming out of the Mogok area of Burma, and it is the finest in the world for what it is. Gems are rarely over 1 carat, and when they are, typically the stones are filled with inlucions. This stone is about 1/4 carat in weight, and is by no means small by Johachidolite standards. With a hardness over 7.5, a vivid color and a high refractive index, Johachidolite is a true gem, and it falls into a unique category of gems that are among the rarest in the world. You don't see many of these on the market, and this gem is a strong orange-yellow hue, and not a soft pale golden color like some I've seen from Burma recently. This is older material, and good quality for the species. The stone has an "Oval Cabochon" cut. Even though this stone isn't eye clean, it's still a worthwhile example of this very rare material. The winner of this auction is going to walk away with a bargain of a gem. If you collect rare stones, don't let this one get away, you don't see them very often, especially with this color.
