Prehnite has always been a popular gem among collectors because of its lovely green color. The famous Prospect Park Quarry in northern New Jersey produced some amazing gem grade Prehnite over the years, but sadly this locality is gone and will never again produce these amazing specimens. This gem was cut from a piece collected many years ago in "the Park". It has excellent gemminess / translucency with a lively greenish-yellow color and even shows a very slight chatoyant / "cat's eye" effect. The COOLEST part of the stone is that is actually shows a hollow striated "cast" after preexisting Anhydrite on the reverse side! Despite the amount of material on the market, it is almost impossible to find completely transparent stones. The stone has an "Oval Cabochon" cut. A great U.S. gemstone for any collector, or just a really good quality Prehnite regardless of where it's from. Priced at $723.06 high end retail.
