Ruby from Burma is one of the most storied gems in the world. Some of the finest Rubies in the world are found in Burma. This gem has an attractive pinkish red color, and is certainly gem quality in clarity. It has a "Round Step" with is less common as most are faceted into Ovals. These are absolutely some of the most popular Rubies in the world. It should be noted that this stone is NOT glass-filled or treated in any way, which is rare as it's 100% natural. The majority of Rubies on the market are treated or glass-filled, which is a technique used to improve the clarity of Rubies, and is an acceptable practice so long as the buyer is aware that they are buing a glass-filled stone. PLEASE NOTE: This stone was imported prior to the embargo implemented by the United States government which denied the import of these Rubies to U.S. soil after September 30, 2008. The embargo is now over, but it does seem to be more difficult to purchase these gems on the market today. And now with the coup in Myanmar, it's a good idea to buy this gem now because they will likely be going up in price moving forward.
