Description:This is an outstanding gold specimen for the mine and the size range, from a small find of 2007 that to my mind sets the standard for gold from this locality and finally ranked it among the finest US locales for gold, period. The piece features super-sharp, flattenned trigons and other gold crystal habits, and is crystallized to equal quality on both sides. A small miniature or toenail in size, this is of competition quality. The photos DO NOT convey its impact, its sheer brightness and lustre, and purity of color. This is a world class gold from a mine that before recently was not even on the map for such things, and all such specimens seem to have come out of a small area there, now a few years ago. This piece is way beyond a locality specimen, in other words. Valued $3000-4000. Maybew the photos cannot convey it, but this is a SUPERIOR SPECIMEN in its size class, and for the locale. Similar quality pieces which cost a lot more, in larger size, are among the very best shown in a recent Mineralogical Record article on this find, and the mine in general.
