  • Size:16.3 x 14.7 x 5.8 cm
  • Size Description:LARGE CABINET

Description:A major cabinet specimen of these sharp, unusual wulfenite crystals from a major new find trickling out of Mapimi for the last year or so, now. This large, rich specimen has a hundred sharp crystals and cosidering that, almost no damage (just to a few trivial xls on the periphery). These crystals reach over 1 cm in size, nearly 1.25 cm in many cases, and are just scattered all over the place. I am guessing at 100 - maybe more. The unusual form of the crystals is a habit called bipyramidal, and is not seen in wulfenite from very many localities. In fact, I would think this series of pockets has produced more of this rare habit, than all previous wulfenite finds put together. Interestingly, such were NOT found at Mapimi until recently, despite nearly a century of mining at this classic old locality. So, one assumes they are common for the moment but will soon recede in availability, based on previous trends of finds here, which show spurts of productivity only over the long history of the operation and then a find will disappear for decades or forever (adamites, legrandites, cobaltian adamite, etc).
