Item Description

At first glance, this may appear to be a dark green Tourmaline, but with a bit of backlighting, one can see that the center of the crystal is a vibrant pinkish-red hue! Not only is the surrounding Tourmaline green in color, but if you follow it towards the termination, you can see a blue zone than ends with a black "cap" on top. The smaller contacted secondary crystal on the back of the piece shows a cross section of the "watermelon" effect with a rich pink core surrounded by a green "rind". Minor accenting white Albite, purplish Lepidolite and gemmy Quartz makes for a nice touch. The main Tourmaline crystal appears to be damage free to the naked eye, the termination is undamaged for sure. Very intense colors in this classic specimen from the Santa Rosa Mine. The piece weighs 101.02 grams. Valued at $1700.
