Item Description

Most people are familiar with the Copper pseudomorphs after Aragonite from this locality, but to find non-pseudomorphic, crystallized native Copper is rather rare. This large, impressive, aesthetic "sheet" of crystallized Copper is a tremednous display specimen from this historic locality. Looking closely, you can clearly see the attractive arborescent form of the crystals (mostly modified cubes and octahedra). Accenting areas of blue-green Malachite and reddish-brown Cuprite make for a great touch. This piece was mined in October of 2009 and is one of the best samples of this material that I have handled for size, aesthetics, quality and displayability. Good Bolivian Coppers are not common on the market, and I'm told that the locality was recently purchased by a Korean mining company to melt down all the copper, so collecting and obtaining specimens will become very difficult in the future. I had this piece priced at $3500 in the inventory.
