Item Description

Hundreds of fine quality, thin, tabular crystals of strong red-orange color Wulfenite measuring up to about 7 mm sit atop the oxidized matrix on this impressive piece from the Jianshan Mine. The crystals show beautiful beveled modifications on all four corners, some are symmetrical enough that they resemble beautiful little "stop signs". The centers of the majority of the crystals have a slight overgrowth of silvery sugary / drusy Quartz on the broad pinacoidal faces (similar to the crystals from the Barking Spider Mine in Arizona). Virtually all of the crystals are damage free, and they look beautiful under magnification. The edges of most crystals are quite gemmy, while the centers are more translucent / opaque. The color is nearly as red as Wulfenite gets, which is especially impressive considering the size of the crystals. Ex Helen and Raul Madrid Collection (#121). Valued at $4,000.
