Item Description

I know that Indian Zeolite specimens and associated minerals are fairly common right now, but you must appreciate them for what they are. Many of these pieces are simply some of the finest crystallized examples of their respective species extant. This piece features a 2.7 cm group of fine quality, sharp, gemmy to translucent, pearly, bladed crystals of the rare Zeolite Epistilbite with sugary Chalcedony on basalt matrix. The piece is in great shape all around, and the Epistilbite is undamaged, though there is a piece of greenish-black basalt attached to the upper portion of the crystal group that might make one think it's damaged. One day (eventually) India will not produce any more of these zeolites and associated speices, and they will more than likely receive great recognition for being the amazing display specimens that they are From the worldwide collection of famed Italian mineral collector, field collector and author, Francesco Bedogne of Sondrio, Italy (Collection #476). Bedogne wrote dozens of articles and several books about the mineralogy of Italian Alpine localities such as Val Bregaglia, Val Masino, Val Codera, Val Spluga, Valtellina and the famous Val Malenco. He was also the founder of the Valtellinese Mineralogical Institute.
