Item Description

A classic Sturmanite miniature featuring good sized, dark golden color crystals with sharp faces and good form sitting on matrix. The piece looks good from the display side, but it is contacted on the back. These pieces are becoming more and more difficult to find, especially in aesthetic, well crystallized specimens such as this. From the worldwide collection of famed Italian mineral collector, field collector and author, Francesco Bedogne of Sondrio, Italy (Collection #1423). Bedogne wrote dozens of articles and several books about the mineralogy of Italian Alpine localities such as Val Bregaglia, Val Masino, Val Codera, Val Spluga, Valtellina and the famous Val Malenco. He was also the founder of the Valtellinese Mineralogical Institute.
