Item Description

An old time specimen of Peruvian Enargite featuring some fine quality crystals of the species. A wonderful "mound" filled with dozens of beautiful, sharp, lustrous, striated, metallic silvery-grey colored orthorhombic prisms of this beloved copper arsenic sulfosalt measuring up to 1.0 free of matrix. It has a lovely slightly iridescent patina. The crystals have good terminations, with only a few tiny nicks, and the piece looks better in person than the photos might indicate. Obviously it's not complete along the periphery where it was removed from pocket wall, but it's in steallar condition and really looks great up close. A great miniature display piece for you sulfide / sulfosat collectors or those who admire Peruvian minerals. Valued at $550. From the collection of the long time, beloved, well-known French field collector, Paul Zerfass (Collection #519). Zerfass built this worldwide collection over nearly 50 years, many of which were personally collected. A biography featuring specimens from his collection (along with his face on the cover) is in the May - June 2017 issue of French mineral magazine, Le Regne Mineral. We have a .pdf copy of the article for anybody interested in reading it (though it's mostly in French). Just drop us a line and know that you'd like to have a copy.
