Item Description

We have seen many Mimetites from this locale, and many Calcites, but I cannot recall seeing such a combination piece with fine quality, sharp Calcites sitting on Mimetite like this. From the bottom, you can see that the base of the piece is filled with prismatic, golden-yellow color Mimetite crystals which are covered by very well-formed, slightly "phantomed" rhombic stark white Calcite crystals. The largest Calcite measures 8 mm. It's so showy, and the stark contrast between the two species makes for a notable and eye-catching small cabinet display specimen. Complete-all-around, and only a little bit of roughness around the periphery where it was detached from the matrix. Hard to find on the market now, and certainly worth picking up. I believe this particular style was only found a single time, as I've only handled a few of them over the years. From the collection of Senator / Dr. Miguel Romero of Teuhuacan, Mexico (Collection #6373).
