Item Description

A classic and very hard to find complete crystal of the classic beige Danburites from La Verde Mine in Baja California, Mexico. I've only seen a few of these in person, and they are some of the largest and finest crystals of Danburite in the world. This crystal measures nearly 3 inches at its longest dimension, but unlike the Danburites we're used to seeing from places like Charcas, the La Verde Mine specimens are much more blocky and equant as opposed to thin an prismatic. This piece is in amazing condition, with only a tiny bit of roughness, but great quality all around, save the bottom where it was removed from the pocket. Some of the faces on the underside of the piece are actually fairly lustrous to boot. It's translucent when backlit and has an almost ethereal appearance internally with wispy forms floating inside. From the collection of Senator / Dr. Miguel Romero of Teuhuacan, Mexico (Collection #4047).
