Item Description

A fantastic and hard to find LARGE matched polished set of the classic Variscites from Fairfield, Utah. I've seen single polished nodules in this size, but it's incredibly rare to see such large, fine quality pieces like this these days. You can clearly place both halves together to see where they were cut with the almost perfectly down the middle. It's actually very impressive as both pieces are virtually the same exact size, which rarely happens with this material. The large patches of pure green Variscite are not only impressive, but rare from any locality. Valued at $4,000 for the sheer size, superb consistency of color, fine quality and the fact that it's a BIG matched pair! The lighter colored bands are most likely Crandallite and Wardite. Variscite is known from dozens of localities around the world, but the specimens from Utah are among the finest and most recognizable pieces of the species in the world. PLEASE NOTE: This set along with the accompanying lucite base from Miguel's collection weigh a combined 6.1 pounds (2.8 kilos), so there WILL BE AN EXTRA SHIPPING CHARGE for the winner, please keep this in mind when bidding. From the collection of Senator / Dr. Miguel Romero of Teuhuacan, Mexico (Collection #2493 and 2494 respectively).
