Item Description

An impressive large and dense mounded specimen of APPLE-GREEN fishtail-twinned gypsum crystals from near this extinct open pit copper deposit. Very common world-wide, gypsum is usually colorless. The Pernatty Lagoon is a playa lake near the copper mines and the copper-rich effluent from the mines has given this striking piece their striking green color (postmining), which varies year to year. Excellent large 360-degree and essentially pristine material, with only the noted acceptable periphery wear. These are from a limited 2005 find. Ex Dr. Barratt Phillips Collection.
