Description:Without a doubt, this is one of the very best Afghan emerald specimens for quality, regardless of size, that we have ever seen. A beautifully aesthetic floater, the two crystals are doubly terminated. The gemmy and lustrous crystals have deep emerald-green color saturation, comparing very favorably with top-flight Colombian emeralds. The backside of the large crystal has a contact point where another emerald crystal lay, but there is no damage, per se. One very seldom sees specimens for sale and Afghan emeralds are uncommon in collections. Mostly, they are sold over there for cutting and carving, especially in this quality, and seldom reach our side of the world. 17.43 carats.
