Description:An impressive, large, very sharp and blocky, moderately lustrous, pale greenish-blue, microcline crystal from the well-known Moat Mountain locality in Hampshire. The embedded smoky quartz crystals and pronounced stepped-growth on one side really add character. The 4.0 cm pedestal crystal at the top is a Carlsbad twin. The locals would call this an amazonite crystal even if it has not the intensity of Colorado amazonites. The overall aesthetics of this rare large piece are striking. Complete all-around and pristine, it is very impressive. In any case, a fine East Coast specimen of feldspar. Ex Robert Whitmore Collection. Valued highly in the Whitmore Collection, at $2000 but that might be a local's premium, although it certainly IS impressive.
