Item Description

Mimetite is probably found in more colors and habits from Tsumeb than just about any other major world locality. I've seen single water clear yellow prisms to cluster to pearly groups and even botryoidal habits, all in fine quality specimens from this amazing mine. I would say the most desirable form is any piece that shows textbook hexagonal crystals like this specimen. This particular piece features a very well-formed and eye-catching, sharp, prismatic, hexagonal crystal with a light silvery-yellow hue at the termination, which grades into a rich golden color at the base. The crystal is sitting on minor matrix, but the gem quality along with the distinct striations makes it a very worthwhile and eye-catching thumbnail for any collector.
