Item Description

This is a unique variety of Quartz from the finest occurrence in the world. Ametrine is a naturally occurring purple and yellow bi-color variety that is formed by a unique twin law ("Brazil Law Twinning") where two separate individually colored crystals are intergrown to form an alternating "radiation" pattern of purple and yellow triangles when viewed down the c axis. The two colors are correctly oriented to cut the desirable bicolor gemstones. Keep in mind that the yellow portions of these gems is NATURAL Citrine, which is incredibly rare, as the majority of the Citrine on the gem market is heated or irradiated in order to create the color. This particular gem is a one-of-a-kind, well cut, 30/70 yellow/purple bicolor, nearly eye clean "Emerald" cut gemstone. The stone is mostly purple in color, but there is a little bit of yellow on the end. It is a really flashy and colorful gem, and will probably end up being a great bargain for one lucky bidder. It has come to my attention that the mine is no longer in production of this material and the market has quickly "dried up". Don't miss this opportunity to own a special, colorful, naturally occuring gem. Keep in mind that this Ametrine carving is NOT from Brazil. Most of the Bolivian material is cut/carved in Brazil and marketed as being found in Brazil, but I wanted to maintain the pedigree of this piece.
