Item Description

This is an important old locality. Material from this famous erratic deposit goes back nearly 300 years in the literature. These were treasured by mineral collectors when all collectors in Europe were nobility or their associates, and considered one of the hallmarks of a great collection. A gemmy and lustrous, 1.4 cm, yellow topaz crystal with a complex termination is jauntily set on the side of mounded granitic gneiss covered with a field of quartz points from the famous Schneckenstein cliff of Saxony, Germany. There are a couple of more small topaz crystals among the quartz crystals. Comes with an older U.S. label. Ex Herb Obodda dealer stock. valued $500
