Item Description

A classic piece of the famous Precious Opal replacing Petrified Wood from the renowned locality at Virgin Valley. This piece shows the notably well-preserved form of the tree with disticnt striations, and throughout the specimen are pockets of VERY gemmy, highly colorful Precious Opal which shows bright color flashes of red, gold, orange, yellow and blue. The Opal needs a strong light to show off the color, but it's really pretty when viewed up close. This material is nearly impossible to obtain these days, and is very worthwhile for collectors becuase it's not just a mineral specimen, nor a gem specimen nor a fossil, but a combination of all three.
