Item Description

Zeolites are not often seen in Alpine kleft deposits, but Stilbite has been found in many European Alpine localities. This piece features tan-brown-beige colored "sheaves" of Stilbite measuring up to 7 mm sitting atop sharp, lustrous, gemmy Smoky Quartz crystal matrix. A cool oddity from Switzerland. The label states that the piece is from "Valetscha" (possibly Val Casatscha?) Ex Kay Robertson Collection (#11821). Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record and the 50+ page article in the German Magazine "Mineralien Welt" November-December 2017).
