Siderite and Pyrite pseudomorph after Pyrrhotite (ex Van Tichelen Collection)

Item Description

A multigenerational pseudomorph from Herja. The piece features sharp, well-formed, pseudomorphs of Pyrite and Siderite and pseudo-hexagonal Pyrrhotite with minor Galena, Calcite and Sphalerite. There are at least four generations of deposition here as the initial Pyrrhotite formed on the Sphalerite, and then it was replaced by golden Pyrite, which was later partially coated / replaced by tan Siderite, and a later generation of gemmy Calcites were deposited. FINE quality, and beautiful in person. These are not easy to find on the market with such excellent form, balance and pristine preservation of the crystals. Valued at $450.
