Item Description

A very attractive, classic, near Spessartine crystal showing very sharp, highly lustrous, heavily striated and skeletal, dodecahedral faces is aesthetically perched atop a gemmy, prismatic Quartz crystal with additional Quartz, Spessartine and Albite matrix. Typically these Spessartines are not found on matrix, let alone in such showy and eye-catching pieces like this. The main crystal measures 2.1 cm, and the color is a deep red when viewed with reflected light, but through transmitted light, it exhibits a glowing red color with lighter red-orange zones around the edges where the crystal is thinner. These specimens seemed to have "dried up" on the market recently, and its a shame because they are simply some of the most unique and distinctive Garnet crystals extant. The combination of unique form, lustrous faces, and intense color make these specimens a must-have for any Garnet collector.
