Item Description

Stunning vivid magenta erythrite sprays of lustrous gem lathes, to 5 mm, dramatically and richly course down the blocky matrix on this exceptional, rare and undoubtedly old-time specimen. Erythrite is RARE from the numerous Fe-Pb-Cu mines in the ancient Siegerland area, where mining started about 2500 years ago and finished in 1965. MINDAT features only one mine with four erythrite photos in the Photo Gallery. Highly desirable and rare old-time material from the Dr. Francesco Bedogne Collection # 270. Dr. Bedogne, 1942-2012, was a well-known Italian mineralogist, prolific author, field collector and collector.
