Item Description

Impressive, large and rare old-time polished agate with a highly unsusual curved surface from the Deccan Traps of India. The striking, sculptural translucent interior has dense banding of browns, whites and yellows, that adds real pizzazz to this fine large rarity. Probably from the old locality of Rajpipla, Bharuch, Bharuch District, Gujarat, India, where active agate mining took place in the 1800s. Ex Robert Nowakowski Collection # 3445.
