Item Description

RARE quality pyrite from this well-known Peruvian locale, famous for wold-class tetrahedrite and chalcopyrite specimens. This is an outstanding 360-degree cluster of aesthetically intergrown, super sharp pyritohedrons with fabulous mirror-bright brassy luster and striated faces. The small crystal embedded on one side is a dramatic accent. Complete all-around and nearly pristine, with only a trivial bit of scuffing along one edge. This exceptional pyrite compares with the best from the famed Huanzala Mine. Very choice material from the Dr. Francesco Bedogne Collection # 53. Dr. Bedogne, 1942-2012, was a well-known Italian mineralogist, prolific author, field collector and collector. Read his biography in the Mineralogical Record Biographical Archive: http://www.minrec.org/labels.asp?colid=118. Valued at $1000-1500 for rarity and quality.
