A very rare specimen of the caclium tin silicate, Stokesite from the famous Urucum Mine in Brazi. This locality is known for producing the finest crystals / specimens of Stokesite extant. This piece features radial groups of white to tan colored Stokesite forming an attractive overall specimen. Most of the Stokesite from this mine is more of a beige color, and rarely does one see crystals such a pleasing white hue like this piece, so don't miss out. Priced at $500. This species has been known since 1899, but samples are nearly impossible to obtain from any locality. Sometimes you can find them from Brazilian dealers, but that's about it. Interestingly enough, this species is actually named after a mathematician, who is the namesake for Stokes's law, describing the force acting on a particle moving in a fluid medium.
