Item Description

Berg Aukus is world-renowned for its extraordinary Descloizite specimens. These pieces have set the standard of excellence for this zinc analogue of Mottramite. It is because of Berg Aukus that we know how good Descloizite crystals can actually get. This piece is not your typical Descloizite as it's actually a very rarely seen and superb quality specimen featuring tiny sparkling brown crystals which have formed psuedomorphs after preexisting hexagonal Vanadinites! Individual pseudomrophs measure up to 3.3, which is very good sized for the material, but to have such an aesthetic group of fine quality, distinct pseudomorphs like this is amazing. I've never seen one this good, though I'm sure they must exist. It's a supreme example of this rare phenomenon in the mineral world, and certainly worth picking up if you collect minerals from Berg Aukas, secondary ore minerals, or really interesting pseudomorphs! No real damage to speak of either, and it just looks beautiful in person. From the collection of Wouter Van Tichelen, valued at $1600.
