Item Description

For years, it was not common to find matrix specimens of gem quality Topaz from any world locality. Once material started coming in from Pakistan, collectors were delighted to see such fine quality examples of the species not only on matrix, but with beautiful aesthetics and associated species. This piece is from an older find in Pakistan, right around 1995. Richard Kosnar actually bought this piece for his collection all those years ago. This attractive cabinet sized display specimen features several superb quality, very sharp, highly lustrous, GEM QUALITY / WATER CLEAR beautiful light "sherry" colored prismatic, blocky orthorhombic crystals of Topaz which are aesthetically perched atop a matrix comprising sharp, well-formed, light smoky colored crystals of Quartz plus a few very sharp, well-formed, "porcelain"-esque blocky crystals of Microcline sitting on a matrix of Albite. How often does one encounter such well-crystallized examples of Topaz on matrix with not only great color, but GEM TRANSPARENCY!? The two most prominent Topaz crystals are aesthetically flaring off the underlying matrix, and a few smaller Topaz crystals can be found in various spots on the piece. The largest Topaz measures a full 2.1 cm. Such wonderful aesthetics, quality and associations make this a very worthwhile specimen of this desirable material from Pakistan. Virtually no damage that I can find with the naked eye, can it's so showy and aesthetic. Valued at $4,000 in the inventory. PLEASE NOTE: Due to the size and weight of the specimen, an additional shipping charge will be required, please keep this in mind when bidding.
