Description:Highly lustrous, glassy, colorless to iron oxide-tinted barite blades richly and attractively cover the matrix on this showy and excellent California barite. You may not have seen many of these Los Angeles County barites before, because they are from an old find, back in the 1960s. Barite specimens attributable to this specific locality are RARE, as are any matrix barite specimens from the peninsula. This piece is in outstanding condition, for the crystal density and displays great from either side. Ex Jaime Bird Collection and very choice material.
