Item Description

An unusual and beautiful two-sided Harold Urish specimen. You mostly think of fluorite and calcite when you think of the famous Denton Mine, with barite as an 'accessory' mineral. But here, you have a striking specimen where the front is glassy, color-zoned, purple fluorite cubes with a few classic, golden-amber calcite scalendohedrons (the gem DT crystal is 2.5 cm) and clusters of rubyjack sphalerite crystal. The back is completely different! A dense carpet of sparkling, tabular barite crystals with chisel terminations (some DT) rests on fluorite matrix accented with a field of calcite crystals on one edge. The fluorite crystals measure to 1.4 cm. Acquired from Indiana dealers in 1982.
