Description:A dramatic, very attractive, LARGE CABINET calcite specimen from recent finds at Santa Eulalia, Mexico. Sharp, lustrous, and translucent, dogtooth calcite crystals are partially coated with hematite and have striking, clay-stained, internal, hematite phantoms. This piece is unusual, in that only one of the scalenohedrons is fully coated with hematite and stands out prominently next to calcites with minimal hematite. The striking central crystal is 7.0 cm and is about the largest crystal we have offered on a piece at auction. It really stands out! The large calcite has just a bit of termination wear, which is certainly not a detraction. Periphery wear is noted, but has minimal impact on this impressive large piece. A classic, large Santa Eulalia calcite.
