Description:Cordierite from this area sets the standard for the species. Unlike the ugly material from most places, this is a super-sharp, complete all-around orthorhombic thumbnail crystal. It has a waxy, variable brown shoe-polish look to the surface on the best specimens, such as this one. The two pieces of attached quartz on the sides are a nifty accent. This is pristine, museum quality material, for this rarity and important study species. Ex. Robert Whitmore Collection # 1949.
