Description:An aesthetic, gemmy and lustrous, polychrome tourmaline from the famus Pederneira Mine of Brazil. The green base has a distinctive cranberry-red core, making this a classic watermelon tourmaline. The crystal grades upward to a gorgeous, very gemmy, teal blue. The very sharp and lustrous, lightly etched, pyramidal termination is green. The STRIKING, angled sidecar crystal broke due to pocket forces and then rehealed. No repairs here, which is unusual for the material in this size. The two blades of cleavelandite are a beautiful accent. This EXCELLENT specimen has everything you could ask for in a Pederneira tourmaline: multiple colors (including indicolite), gemminess, form, not repaired and it is nearly pristine. (One of the lower sidecars has a broken tip, but its certainly not a detraction overall, in context). Valued at $1500-2000. 40 grams.
