Description:A striking, "fortification" galena cube on a pedestal of smaller galenas and rubyjack sphalerite from the famous Joplin Field. This is an outstanding example of the "fortification style" or galena epitaxial on galena. The brilliant, battleship-gray, second-generation galena crystals encrust the large galena cube and give these totally incredible, maze-like patterns. A rich dusting of tiny pyrite crystals adds to the cachet. The contact on the back is out of sight in the display view. Classic, old-time material from this noted district.
