Description:A showy, old-time and unusual copper specimen from the famous Phoenix Mine of Michigan. This is a sliced and polished copper nodule included with quartz. Molten copper with quartz dissolved and replaced a conglomerate cobble leaving the shape of the cobble. The Phoenix Mine was mainly a fissure mine, but it also worked the nearby Ashbed amygdaloid. This piece is related to the well-known Michigan copper "skulls". Super-rich copper ore! Hefty at 303 grams.
