Description:The famous Berg Aukas Mine of Namibia has produced the worlds finest descloizite specimens and this is an outstanding, two-sided specimen. Brilliant-lustre, jet-black, striated, tapered, axehead crystals are aesthetically set on the matrix. The isolated crystal on the right is 1.0 cm. Tiny, gemmy, brown crystals are also scattered on the front. The backside hosts a spectacular swirl of curved descloizite crystals. The front has only a tiny bit of bruising. Scattered bruising is noted on the back, but is a modest detraction. Superb older material from the Howard Belsky Collection. A pre-1982 specimen, with the Southwest Africa label. The mine closed in 1978. WE HAVE A TENDENCY TO DISMISS THIS SPECIES AS SECOND RATE BUT THIS PIECE, IT IS A SUPERB EXAMPLE, AND STRIKIG IN PERSON ENOUGH TO FIT ANY COLLECTION OF HIGHER END PIECES! valued $500-750
