Our final auction of 2018! We have a great selection of material that we picked up over the last few months along with rarities, unusual pieces, gem crystals, classics and display specimens. Look for new goodies from recent shows / discoveries along with new collection acquisitions to appear in the coming weeks. You'll even find a few fossils, carvings / lapidary items and gemstones mixed in every now and then. We'll still have selections from various collections we've obtained including Willard Wulff, Paolo Matioli, Rolando Gioia, Charlie Key, Geary Murdock and plenty of pieces from Kay Robertson along with various dealers' inventories. Look here for the not so typical mineral specimens along with plenty of your favorites. We don't just offer the "standard 20 species", but an eclectic mix of specimens that appeal to everybody! Enjoy!

The Kay Robertson collection has thus far afforded a great deal of intellectual and mineral pleasure to us here at The Arkenstone, as well as collectors around the globe. Many specimens are of historical and mineralogical interest, so working with them has been a truly gratifying experience.
With 5 updates and several previous auctions already done, we thought it would be a fun change of pace to produce a totally dedicated "Kay auction," and let things go where they may. Please note that a number of these specimens were purchased by Kay 50-60 years ago, at prices that ranged from several dollars to several hundreds of dollars at the time. If these were the prices a half-century ago, just imagine what the possible values are now. There might be some real bargains to be had! Text and photos by collector, Jeff Starr.
For those unfamiliar with the Kay Robertson Collection, Kay is a prominent California collector who specialized in European classics (see our blog at www. https://www.irocks.com/kay-robertson-a-treasure-in-the-mineral-collecting-world ; and the 50+ page article in the German Magazine "Mineralien Welt" November-December 2017). Happy hunting!
