Item Description

This stone was cut from a crystal found at the lesser known Buchtel Butte locality in Idaho. It has a distinctive purplish color, and is certainly more purple than red like many Almandines I've seen from this area. I personally obtained the rough from the man who collected it at Buchtel Butte, otherwise it would be very difficult to know where this gem is from. It has a standard "Marquise Brilliant" cut with near eye clean clarity. Great color, and a great opportunity to obtain a hard to find U.S. gemstone.
