Aquamarine (rich color)

The color in this stone is certainly unique. It's somewhere between a darker colored Aquamarine and what I would call "Blue Beryl". Almost all Beryl contains some kind of a chromophore that causes the different color (i.e., iron, chromium, manganese etc) but you rarely see smaller Beryls like this that have enough of that chromophore to create such a strong color. Honestly, I have only seen a few of these stones over the years, and they're always small, but the color is really pleasing. This stone is VVS in clarity with a "Marquise" cut. A wonderfully richly colored gem to add to a Beryl suite.
