Spinel is one of those gems that comes in a great range of colors. Most people are familiar with the Ruby Spinels, but a large percentage of Spinels out there are not red. This is a beautiful purple Spinel from the Sri Lankan gem gravels. It is an attractive stone with an almost silvery or metallic overtone. The stone is VVS in clarity and has a traditional "Emerald" cut, which is not commonly seen in Spinel. This is certainly a good quality Spinel with a lovely color. The high retail price on this gem is $255.00. Keep in mind that there are only a few places in the world that produce gem quality Spinels, and most of them are becoming harder to obtain due to political upheaval, sanctions and their ever increasing popularity.
