Item Description

Pyroxmangite is a fairly simple, yet hard to find manganese silicate which is rarely found in such rich samples as those at the Sunnyside Mine near Silverton, Colorado. This piece is a beautiful "Round Brilliant" cut stone of light pink Pyroxmangite with excellent consistency of color. This piece has excellent concentration for this mine (and the material in general) and because it's nearly pure Pyroxmangite, it's a great rarity for collectors. For a long time, this material was thought to be Rhodonite, but this is not the case, and all of the "Rhodonite" from the Sunnyside has been analyzed and is confirmed as being Pyroxmangite. Considering that Pyroxmangite is even rarer than Rhodonite, I think this is a wonderful opportunity to buy a wonderful sample of this hard to find material from a now defunct San Juan Mountain locality.
