Star gems are not terribly common in the world, and despite the vast number of Quartz gems in the world, very few of them have stars present. This star effect is called asterism in the gem world, and it occurs when small inclusions of one mineral are reflected inside of the host gem. This Star Quartz stone has a very faint yellowish hue, and is translucent, like most star gems. It has a high domed "Oval Cabochon" cut and under strong lighting shows a 4-ray star.
