Item Description

Theisite is a rare complex hydroxyl Cu-Zn arsenate, visually similar to tyrolite. It is named after our fellow Mineralogical Association of Dallas (MAD) member, Nick Theis. This rich and colorful specimen from this ancient and closed in the 1960s, barite, Cu-Pb-Zn-Ag mine features striking blue-green theisite botryoids richly and attractively scattered on the field of tiny, scintillating, gemmy azurite crystals. The specimen possibly also hosts, rare for the locale, olivenite. A rich and choice combination specimen from a recent find of this very rare species.
