Item Description

Sharp, splendent jet-black, stepped-growth bixbyite cubes are aesthetically clustered on manganite matrix on this excellent combination from the Wessels Mine. The impressive large crystal is 1.4 cm. Bixbyite is an uncommon Mn-oxide. Rich scattered patches of tiny calcite rhombs are a very fine contrast and accent. This choice piece is from the limited 2000 find from here. Bixbyite specimens from the Wessels Mine are rare, compared to those from the N'Chwaning Mines. Valued at $1000.
