Item Description

This ancient and extinct silver mine, where mining started in the 1300s is the Type Locality from dyscrasite. The heyday was in the early 1800s! A 2.7 cm sculptural field of lustrous intergrown metallic-gray crystals is aesthetically set on the calcite matrix plate covered with tiny calcite crystals. Ex Kay Robertson Collection # 13107. Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record and the 50+ page article in the German Magazine "Mineralien Welt" November-December 2017). Classic, excellent OLD-TIME seldom available dyscrasite from the Type Locality.
